niezabezpieczonych (zewnetrznie) sieciach.

pozdrawiam,
Bartek

The IPv6 "Tech Preview" for Windows 2000 contains a modified version of
wininet.dll (the modifications were to enable Internet Explorer to
access IPv6 web sites on that platform). Because this version of
wininet.dll doesn't contain any of the subsequent security fixes to
same, we recommend that people don't use the Windows 2000 IPv6 Tech
Preview outside of isolated test labs.

It is also possible that this ancient version of wininet.dll causes IE
to misbehave with Windows Update.

If you insist upon running the IPv6 Tech Preview, however, you can avoid
possible problems with this old wininet.dll by saving away the
up-to-date version of wininet.dll found in your "%SystemRoot%\system32
directory" *before* installing the Tech Preview and then restoring it to
the same place after installing the Tech Preview. You will likely lose
IPv6 web browsing capability via IE though.

Note that as a "Tech Preview", the release of IPv6 for Windows 2000
was/is not supported and was intended for testing purposes only. Also,
the code is four or five years old at this point and doesn't reflect any
changes to the IPv6 standards made by the working group in the meantime.
So you're really on your own if you want to continue using it. We
recommend using the IPv6 implementations in Windows Server 2003 and/or
Windows XP (SP1 or later), both of which are supported (and updated by
Windows Update if need be).
